Twitter To Stop Counting Photos And Links In 140-Character Limit

It seems lovers of Twitter will finally do away with the 140 character tweet limit.

According to a source quoted by Bloomberg, the change in character limit could be made as early as within the next two weeks.
Although the company is yet to comment on the report since January when founder Jack Dorsey mentioned that Twitter was exploring ways of enabling its users to write longer posts.

The 140-character limit was reportedly originally added to make tweets fit into a text message. Smartphones were not available when the company launched in 2006,  so many users typed their tweets as texts before posting them.

Mr. Dorsey has since described the limit as a “beautiful constraint” that “inspires creativity and brevity”. Last June, Twitter announced it would increase the limit on direct messages between one user and another to 10,000 characters.
Hmm. We can think of just as many pros as cons for this one. It would would be cool, for example, to not have to figure out which grammatical or spelling error to make in order to fit your entire thought in a tweet.
However, longer tweets not only means longer tweets of the amusing, enlightening, inspiring variety, but longer tweets of the petty/shady/ignorant/racist/idiotic variety as well. Don’t forget longer tweets from Donald Trump, Azaelia Banks, and Anne Coulter. Ugh, see? Pros and cons.
We see how y’all carry on in those Twitter streets too. A lot of y’all need to get banned altogether, not the ability to write more! Either way, the 140 character limit will soon be no more.
