She can skillfully throw pottery and create sculptures as well as take videos of herself performing with expressive masks she makes from porcelain.
Her art taps into her experiences, emotions and knowledge about African, European and other artistic traditions
Luvon Sheppard, a professor of art at RIT who has been on the faculty for 43 years, said Corbett is the most unusual student he has taught.
"She is well-grounded in the arts," Sheppard said. "She knows all the different arts movements — and found her vision."
Reflecting on her artistic development, Corbett, 26, talked about her abilities, rather than disabilities.
“I am very capable of doing things for myself,” said Corbett, who will receive a bachelor's degree in fine arts studio from RIT.
