"May God, and Nigerians forgive me" - Prince Bassey Effiom begs

Prince Bassey Effiom, one of the seven suspects paraded for kidnapping yesterday begs Nigerians for forgiveness. In his words saying, “I am a kidnapper and I know I am guilty. It is the handiwork of the devil and I pray that God Almighty and the people I might have hurt and disappointed will forgive me.”
The suspects were paraded by the Cross River State Police Command in Calabar. Among those also paraded for kidnapping, armed robbery and unlawful possession of fire arms was 19-year-old Ubong Bassey. The Cross Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, disclosed that one of the three suspects arrested for kidnapping (Edem Boy) died from bullet injuries during exchange of fire with the police. According to her, two people were arrested for kidnapping, four for armed robbery while a student of the College of Education, Akamkpa, was arrested for unlawful possession of fire arms. She said:
“The efforts of our men from Akamkpa Division and Federal Anti-Robbery Squad led to the arrest of the suspects when they received a distress call of the kidnap of Mr. Godswill Uduma, who sells curtain materials at Bedwell."

“The confrontation between the kidnap gang and police operatives led to the death of Edem Boy, whose corpse was later found. But search for Eyen Uyo and Kingsley Okon, who is the driver of the gang, is in progress.”
The PPRO, however, promised that no stone will be left unturned as the command will make the state uncomfortable for criminals. He said law-abiding citizens had nothing to fear as the police are out to ensure a conducive and secured atmosphere for life and business to thrive.
