EFCC weighs evidence against Omisore

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission yesterday revealed that they don't have strong evidence enough to sustain prosecution of the former Deputy Governor of Osun state, Iyiola Omisore to court. They said Omisore is yet to confess as to what transpired between him and former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, who is also facing multiple fraud charges. He has been denying any wrongdoings and threatened to sue the anti-graft agency for dragging his name in the mud.
Although EFCC had earlier declared Omisore wanted in connection with the receipt of N13 billion from Dasuki, the agency said it was too early to say if he would be charged this week.
Omisore's name is said to have featured prominently on the list of 241 contractors who got contracts from the office of the NSA in 2014 but did not do any appreciable job to justify the huge sums collected. It was learned however that the commission was merely shopping for time to move the top Osun politician to the court to answer for alleged misdeed, having earlier frozen the accounts of another top politician, Musiliu Obanikoro, and his two sons, all said to have cumulatively received N4.7 billion from the office of the NSA for undisclosed reasons.
