Slaven Bilic has confirmed
West Ham are hoping to sign Wilfried Bony or Simone Zaza before the transfer window closes next week.
The Hammers have been on the hunt for strikers all summer but top targets Carlos Bacca and Alexandre Lacazette turned them down.
But moves for Manchester City forward Bony and Juventus star Zaza remain alive with the clock ticking ahead of next Wednesday’s deadline.

Bilic says his side are short of quality and numbers and he has advised chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan — who is continuing to work on deals despite undergoing heart surgery this week — to pursue a move for one of the pair.
‘We have a couple of players that we are going to try to do a deal for,’ Bilic said. ‘I’m not going to tell you the details but we have been linked with Zaza last year also, last summer.
‘He’s a top player and I like him. I was here last year so it tells you everything and we were in contact with him last year, it didn’t happen. We will see if it does this year in the next few days.’
