NACJ to honour Arase, others with integrity award

The Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists has selected the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, and some eminent Nigerians as recipients of the 2016 NACJ Integrity Awards.
The Secretary General of NACJ, Charles Okhai, said in a statement that the integrity award is for those “who have over the years demonstrated a high sense of integrity as a lifestyle, especially in their leadership positions.
The statement added, “The awards, which come in various categories, will feature IGP Arase as the Integrity Man of the year 2016.
“Awards will also be given to Gen. (Dr.) Otu Oviemo Ovadje (retd) and the Cross River State Commissioner for Power, Mr. Thomas Udem, in the public service category.
“In the professional category, the awardees are: the Group Managing Director, Prima Garnet Africa, Mr. Lolu Akinwunmi; and media icon, Mr. Bisi Olatilo, who will both receive the Professional Integrity Award.
“The Managing Director, Blue Sea Estate, Mr. Kelly Nwogu, and the Managing Director, CEENON Oil and Gas, Mr. Chima Anyaso, will be honoured in the Business Category.
“Pastor John Godwin will be honoured in the Spiritual Leadership Category while in the Politics Category, Mr. Segun Adewale, will receive the Man of Integrity Award.”
The formal presentation of the annual awards, which is scheduled to hold in Lagos in May, will feature human rights activist, Dr. Yinka Odumakin, as the keynote speaker.
He will speak on ‘Integrity: An essential ingredient in nation building.’
According to the statement, “The motivating factor behind the awards is to specifically fight corruption in our nation by encouraging Nigerians to imbibe the virtue of integrity. It’s our hope that the awards will gradually change the perception of Nigerians from survival by corruption to sufficiency by integrity.”
