AN AFRICAN PLAY
TITLE: THE LOST LOVE
Episode 1....
Scene 1.....
It is spring time, the grasses are greener, the air fresher with sweet fragrance, the sun shines bright and the sky is blue. Everybody filled with laughter and joy, bottles of wine flying from person to person, the aroma of a delicious meal floating in the air, everyone looking so elegant in appearance.
Mr Kunle raised his glass cup '' kon kon kon kon'' it rang with a spoon on it like a bell to capture everyones attention. With a smile of fulfilment on his face, with the look of completion, in his elegant atire made of fine-linen material in royal color (purple) and wearing a white cap on his head, standing six-foot tall and looking in his late forties he said to the crowd
Mr Kunle; today is the day the Lord has made and we are to rejoice and be glad in it (the croud exclaimed ''Yes!!..'' ) this day i stand here a fulfilled Man because, My Son ''Taiye'' and my Daughter ''Kehinde'' just got inducted as medical doctors (everybody clapped and with a deep sigh he continued)
hmmmmmmmmmmm...... They are not just medical doctors, they are the apple of my eyes, my eminado, my joy, and my laughter. Whenever i see them i find peace, and as a Father the best i can do is to thank God for blessing me with them and also wish them the best life has to offer... Congratulations my Children.....
Everyone applauded the statement and congratulated the fortunate twins who stood some ten feet away from Mr Kunle smiling profusely for a start of something new in their life.
Somewhere in the crowd, sat Rev. Mother Maria of the order of St. Marian De illuminacious, dressed in a silk-white robe looking in her mid-sixties and wearing a pretentious smile on her face but also grateful to God for the moment. Spotted by Mr Kunle, he drew closer and pleasantries were exchanged....
Rev. Mother Maria; Mr Kunle, How are You?
Mr Kunle; As You can see am overwhelmed with joy and how are You Rev. Mother.....?
Rev. Mother Maria; well God has been too faithful to fail
Mr Kunle; Yes!! I can see that, because, You are still looking younger than i met You (they both laughed.... He continued) Yes! The last time i came arround your place i was told You travelled out.
Rev. Mother Maria; Yes!! I came in 2 weeks ago because of an emergency and i need to see you..
Mr Kunle; ok! Hop all is well?
Rev. Mother Maria; hmmmmmmm.. I wish i could say so but, the hour has come......
They both starred at each other seriously....
Scene 2......
Later that night, Mr and Mrs Kunle both alone in the house, Mrs Kunle in her early forties with tears running down her cheek while sitting on the couch and tapping her foot, dressed in her pink night gown while, Mr Kunle on his feet dressed in his blue pijamas looking confused at the ceiling with his hands arround his waist...
Mrs Kunle; So! When do you intend to tell them?
Mr Kunle; i don't even know if i can have the Heart to tell them...hmmmmmmm.... But eitherways, it's the best thing to do because, if i don't tell them someone will and i wonder what kind of a Father i will be called..
Mrs Kunle; please don't tell them (burst into more tears)
Mr Kunle; But i have to, You know we cannot run forever? I thought You knew what we were getting into from the very beginning?
Mrs Kunle a native of the Igbo land who fell in love with Mr Kunle a native of the Yoruba land screamed '' eeeeeeeeh Chimo'' and began to sing in Igbo dialet '' KOSI SO CHUKWU''....
