It was ecstatic! Ecstacy is an understatement to describe the joy that enveloped the fourth day of proceeding here at the current 64th national convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. The joy of the unprecedented crowd of worshippers at deliverance service of the convention knew no bound as the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye announced that the church on Thursday afternoon recorded its first birth of quadruplets during a convention. According to him, the mother as well as the three boys and one girl are on great condition, adding that it’s obvious the boys are dominating the convention as he added that the total number of children born so far at the convention has risen to 67 babies—40 boys and 27 girls. Ascribing the feat to the wonderous work of the Almighty God and a confirmation of God’s presence at the 64th convention, Adeboye asked the ecstatic worshippers to pray that God will remember them all for good. He reminded them that God had assured him that He would do a new thing during the ongoing convention, enjoining the worshippers to be prepared for a harvest of blessings, breakthroughs, deliverances they would not forget for the rest of their lives.
In his words: “The Lord is good to us, I told you at the beginning of this convention that it is going to be different from any other. God told me He will do a new thing. Today in the history of our church, a woman gave birth to four babies which have never happened before in our maternity. Let us praise His almighty name”.
Preaching a sermon titled; “The Devil will flee,” the cleric who has adopted another style of preaching by breaking his sermon to make the altar call before proceeding, explained that there are two principal forces in the world? They are, according to him, darkness and light; curses and blessings, noting that the inventors of the computer had adopted the same principle of in and out. He, however, emphasised that no matter how tiny the light may be, it will always overcome darkness. The former mathematics lecturer and now an inveterate coach of millions of Christians across the globe further hinted that Jesus Christ is the word that came in human flesh to set the captives free. Adeboye further explained that demons are capable of destroying people without necessarily physically living in them, as they can cause man to be depressed or obsessed, warning that some of these psychological conditions can lead to suicide.
In his words: “There is an activity of the devil called oppression, the actual meaning of which is to sit upon so that the fellow could not rise up. Some people when they want to breakthrough, it will be as if something smarshes them down. “There is also is also depression which means to despair and one of the things that causes depression is regression, pushing back, going steadily backward, downward.
“Those in depressive state, always need urgent attention because depression can lead to suicide. Another act of the devil is obsession which just makes you to focus so much on something, a harmful habit. Take biblical Solomon for example, Solomon obsession was sex, he had 700 wives and that was not enough for him, he got himself 300 concubines and you know what that means, at least he would have sex, at least three times a day. “You may not be Solomon but there are some people who have sex every day. It is not normal. If you know somebody like that, he or she needs deliverance. Sex is not food, is sex food? “For some people it is not sex but food. Their mouths must keep going: every time they must chew something. If the mouth stops for 20 minutes, they become uncomfortable. It is not them but the devil. For some people, it is speaking. For you to know someone who is possessed with the devil; they keep on talking not knowing when to stop. “There are some people who are well dressed but they are demon possessed. One of the characteristics of those who are demon possessed is that they engage in self destructive habits.
Giving biblical examples of those who were set free by Jesus, the soft spoken man of God advised the worshippers to totally submit to Jesus, shun sin, resist the devil and other unrighteous activities that can give room for devil and its principalities to oppress them, adding that anyone that sin belongs to the devil and devil has the right to claim right to such person. He said:
“You cannot command the devil when you belong to him because the Bible said the soul that sin belong to the devil. If you are holy, you will cast out the devil just like what David did when he came in contact with Goliath, David come against him in the name of Lord.” Adeboye charged the worshippers to be filled with the Holy Spirit, evangelise for them not to be demon re-possessed.
National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle has restated his call on every Nigerians to contribute his/her quota to arrest the current siege on Christians. Rev. Ayokunle told the mammoth crowd of worshippers that CAN will require a concerted effort of every Nigerian to end the siege. Turning to the top government officials at the convention which included Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, his counterparts, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Dr. Samuel Ortom (Benue State) among others, the CAN chieftain urged them to rise to be counted among those who take a stand against persecution of the Church in Nigeria. “You can never have the destiny of Nigeria so close to you at a time such as this, I urge you to take advantage of it and arrest the siege on the Church,” he told the dignitaries that included the deputy governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga as well as Speaker of Ekiti State, Hon. Kolawole Oluwawole. Extolling the virtues of the host, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the CAN president maintained that a first time visitor to the Redemption Camp would amazed at the millions of people that had gathered for the programme. “This is coming as an inspiration to Nigeria from the heart of God Himself and not from any man,” he said urging Nigerians to take a moment every day to pray for Christians in Nigeria even if it is just one minute. One of the ways the umbrella body of Christians can generate funds and become independent and adequately attend to needs of persecuted brethren across the nation, Ayokunle said, the body had set up a trust fund and urged all Nigerians to contribute to the CAN Trust Fund.
AS at 6.00 p.m. on Friday night the number of babies born during the ongoing convention had risen to 89. According to the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the number included 53 boys and 36 girls, saying “this certainly is a special convention for the boys.” Nevertheless, he urged the womenfolk to keep hope alive and believe that the number of girls may equal that of the boys before the end of the convention. Earlier in the night, the wife of the General Overseer, Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye led the mamoth crowd of worshippers that was said to fill the old and the new auditoriums, in praying for the well being of the Nigeria and other nations of the world. “For Nigeria, hope and despair will be revived,” she summed up the series of prayers.
