The publisher of Abusidiqu.com, Abubakar Sidiq Usman, who was released by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, August 9, has said that his detention will not shut him up.
Usman was arrested on Monday, August 8, over a report he published on his blog, which accused the EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, of corruption and bullying staff.
The EFCC said he was arrested for 'cyber stalking.'
Usman, however, said he will not be deterred and intimidated by the anti-graft agency.
“I’ve just been released by the EFCC. I want to say again that my voice will never be silenced, irrespective of whatever they (EFCC) think they have done to me here. I will continue to do what I have always been doing, and I say, no retreat, no surrender,” the blogger said in a short video released on twitter by @etinmagbe.
Prior to Usman's release, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) had demanded his immediate release, slamming the EFCC for equating journalism with cyber stalking.
