Woman arrested by EFCC over possession and attempt to export counterfeit travellers cheques


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday June 20, arraigned Favour Omeigba Bello before Justice (Prof) Chuka Augustine Obiozor of the Federal High Court of Lagos State, Ikoyi on 3-count charge bordering on attempt to export counterfeit, Possession of counterfeit and forgery.

Favour Bello (accused), was arrested by officials of the NDLEA on January 16, 2016 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, during the outward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airline to Dubai. After the arrest and further interrogation, she was transferred to the EFCC for further investigation.

Favour was alleged to have in her possession at the time of arrest,  298 pieces of counterfeited Traveler's cheques of various foreign banks, 1 Green Nigerian passport number A06961064 belonging to Aluya Mary Jennifer, 1 Green Ghanaian passport number G0843377 belonging to Koffi Nicole, 1 Driver's Licence bearing the name Okeke Charles, 1 National Identity card bearing the name Aluya Mary Jennifer, all concealed in 3 hard cover children drawing/pictures book.
