Lifeless body of Police found by fiancée


On Sunday 26th of June, the lifeless body of Sergeant GodsPower Okoro, who was in his 40s, was discovered by his fiancée in his room, who came visiting that morning.
She reportedly raised the alarm after several attempt to wake her lover, whom she assumed was sleeping, failed. Preparations for their wedding, which as gathered was billed for December, were on. Sergeant GodsPower is a policeman under Alausa Division, Ojodu area of Lagos State. The cause of his death could not be ascertained as they were no traces of marks of violence on his body or gunshot. However, it was learnt that he had called his fiancée the previous day telling her he was weak. A resident, who gave her name simply as Shola, said: “We were told that he came home slightly drunk on Friday. He also complained of being weak. Immediately he came home, he locked himself up and slept. That was the last time I set my eyes on him alive.” Another man, who claimed to be a relative to the deceased’s fiancée, said: “The tragedy has devastated his fiancée. She has been crying since the incident happened. She said he called her at about 2p.m. on Saturday, informing her that he was weak. “When she called him again at about 4p.m., he still complained of weakness. Next day, she called him several times, but there was no response. This prompted her to rush down only to discover the unbelievable.” 
Mr. Rasaq Oladele (landlord), expressed shock over the incident, describing it as a big blow. Olawale informed that late Okoro packed into the house four years ago.He said: “Immediately his girlfriend alerted us of the incident, I quickly contacted the Police around Grammar School, who visited and removed the corpse.” Confirming the incident, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmus, a Superintendent of Police, stated that detectives from Ojodu Division “visited, examined and photographed the scene. “No mark of violence was found on the body. The corpse was removed and deposited at Mainland General Hospital.
