Atiku Promises To Start Restructuring Process In Six Months If Elected

During the campaign flag off at Ibadan  which took place on Thursday, 7th December, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar made a statement, “What is important is the restructuring,” the PDP presidential candidate told a crowd of supporters at the rally. “Within six months, I shall start the process of leading us to the restructuring of this country.”
He added, “I will ensure that the southwest is returned to the PDP. If you give me your support, you will never regret it.”
Atiku accused the Muhammadu Buhari administration of putting the country in debt, saying it has borrowed so much money in the last three years.
He stated that the PDP administration was providing the best educational advancement and job opportunities for the people before the All Progressives Congress (APC) came to allegedly deceive them.
“We believed in them; they told us they would give us jobs, prosperity, but instead they gave us menial jobs,” the PDP candidate alleged.
“I stand before you today to say that we shall return the prosperity of this nation. I want to say that the southwest will be known again for its educational advancement.”
The campaign enjoyed the presence of the party’s bigwigs, including its National Chairman, Uche Secondus; Atiku’s running mate, former Governor Peter Obi; and Senate President Bukola Saraki.
In his address, Secondus said the nation was in crisis and only the party’s candidate can rescue it from its challenges.
He described Atiku as strong, fit and articulate to lead Nigeria and asked the people to cast their votes in favour of the PDP in the coming elections.
The PDP chairman insisted that the party was on a rescue mission and called for a minute’s silence for all those who lost their lives, including the late OPC leader Fredrick Fasheun.
On his party, Senator Saraki who is also the Director General of the PDP Campaign Council accused the present administration of failing to secure the people and their properties.
He urged the electorate to consider Atiku as a better alternative while former Governor Obi noted that the PDP was the only party that can provide good jobs for the masses.

Nigeria Overtakes India in world's extreme poverty ranking

According to the report, extreme poverty in Nigeria is growing by six people every minute, the highest number in the world.
India on the other hand, is witnessing a decline in its level of extreme poverty.
At the end of May (2018), the survey showed that Nigeria had an estimated 87 million people in extreme poverty, compared to India’s 73 million.
The report further stated that in Africa, D.R Congo may soon overtake India as number two, while Africa may be home to additional 3.2 million people living in extreme poverty by the end of 2018.
With the report, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) to end extreme poverty by 2030 may be unattainable even as Africa faces major population increase.
According to the UN, By 2050 around 2.2 billion people could be added to the global population and more than half of that growth will come from Africa.
It also predicts that Nigeria will become the world’s third largest country by then.
The World Poverty Clock report further states that of the 10 countries on this extreme poverty list, only Ethiopia is on track to meet the United Nations’ SDG of ending extreme poverty by 2030.
It also says outside the top 10, only Ghana and Mauritania are on track with the target.
See the list of top 10 extremely poor countries below.
Nigeria leads with 86.9 million people and is closely followed by D.R Congo with 60.9 million people.
Ethiopia is next with 23.9 million people, followed by Tanzania with 19.9 million.
Mozambique comes next with 17.8 million while Kenya has 14.7 million people living in extreme poverty.
The least four are Uganda, South Africa, South Sudan and Zambia with 14.2, 13.8, 11.4 and 9.5 respectively.

63-year-old great grandmother says pole dancing helped improve her body confidence

A 63-year-old great-grandma Lyn Dellavedova took up pole dancing in 2010 (then 57) with the aim to perform a routine at her 60th birthday. Having done no gymnastics or dancing previously, Lyn walked into the class and almost walked out straight back out again.

‘All the girls were so young – I felt ancient. But the teacher made me feel really welcome and it was so much fun.
My ultimate aim was to perform a routine for my friends and family on my 60th birthday so I could see the milestone in with a bang. I really wanted to do something memorable.’

This eventually happened and she performed a solo routine that she choreographed at her 1920s themed 60th birthday party. She’s fitter than ever and plans to perform again when she reaches 70.

‘Being able to do moves that girls three times younger than me can do makes me feel so good. Friends and family couldn’t believe how good I was. My three grandchildren were really impressed with their cool nan. Pole dancing welcomes all shapes and sizes, it doesn’t discriminate. It has improved my body confidence and definitely keeps me young. You’re never too old to try anything in life. I’d say to people just go for it.’

The travails of Apostle Johnson Suleiman and the inciting words of the Sultan of Sokoto (Part 1)

This is an article written by Femi Fani Kayode. Keep reading: Nothing sums up the dangerous way in which the DSS is handling the Apostle Johnson Suleman affair better than the words of the Southern Kaduna-based Pastor Owojaye Matthew. He said:
"You want to arrest Christian clergymen who asked Christians to defend themselves against killer FULANI Herdsmen while you allow hundreds of foreign FULANI herdsmen invading Nigeria to kill and maim CHRISTIANS and take over their lands! DSS, tread softly!  Do not play into the hands of chaos! We are waiting for DSS to arrest the kill and go FULANI herdsmen!"
